  • […] Just gotten back from an awesome trip to Durban visiting my brother. That place is legend with it’s warm sea, friendly people and interesting places. First we went to the Prawn shack where we sat, drank and ate for 8 hours. It’s located in a rustic looking building, a double story shack with sand floors, simple wooden bar and swings that hang from the roof for bar chairs. On the bar is a fish tank full of baby prawns which you catch and then throw into your tequila before drinking it. Needless to say we all felt bad about subjecting a baby prawn to this kind of treatment but, that didn’t stop anyone from trying it. After 4 hours of food and drink the owner took everyone for a walk along the beach to rest our stomachs and stretch the old legs. Little did I know that when we got back there would be more food and drinking to come. Needless to say that even though it started raining and part of the roof had been blown off by the wind, I had an awesome time with the Dr’s, even if I kept on calling them by the wrong names, the food is simple but fantastic and the drinks are dirt cheap. We think the drinks were dirt because I put all my drinks on Clint’s tab, some others put their on Clayton’s tab and everyone else put their drinks on Dayton’s tab. Needless to say Clint, Clayton and Dayton are all the same person and we aren’t sure if we paid all the tabs or not. So after 8 hours of eating and drinking the bill came to R288 per person, followed by a free rally on wet dirt roads home, which meant that Louise almost lost all her drink and food in the back of Clayton’s car. Hi Megan,

Please let us know what dates you are available. The months of Oct/Nov for Bud’s on the Bay we don’t have any bookings just yet. The Prawn Shak we have a few bookings – but we could always add you to the current bookings. Would you be looking at having the function at Prawn Shak or Bud’s on the Bay? Prawn Shak has a set menu (7 course meal) and Bud’s has a range of function menu’s that are available. You can have a look at the menu’s at https://www.shak.co.za.

      Kind Regards

    Good Day

I am looking at having a birthday party at the Prawn Shak on Saturday, the 7th of June 2014.

It would be for about 15 people, and we would need to stay over for the night. I would be interested in the 7 course meal set menu.

Could you please give me some more information on the abovementioned, as well as pricing.

    I await your response.

    Kind Regards,
