Marula Shak & Prawn Shak

UNIQUE VENUES WHERE DINING IS DONE DIFFERENT

In this day and age of gobbled meals interspersed with googling on your mobile, the Shak experience is about Long Lazy Lunches with good friends, in unique surroundings, far from the madding crowd.

Our latest offering has been carved out of an indigenous forest on the Nkumbe Wildlife Estate near Ponta Malongane in Southern Mocambique, just 460 kms from Durban.
This stunning site is a great place to either have the ultimate chilled day or a grand party, depending on how the mood takes you.
There is a Larney tented camp nearby, upmarket self catering chalets, conference and teambuilding facilities which coupled with the Marula Shak, make it ideal for special functions and tour groups.

The Prawn Shak is 110 kms N of Durban, amongst the sand dunes on the Amatikulu beach and the BayShak,

In view of our unique locations, the Prawn Shak and Marula Shak are interesting places to visit and we encourage  people to ‘make a weekend’ of it and explore the surrounding area where there is a treasure trove of fun activities

From the days when we had the ‘Great Escape Travel Co’ –  travel, adventure and food have been an integral part of our  operation and gave rise to the concept of  ‘ Roadside Cuisine – a ‘Journey through Africa and beyond, fusing cultures and cuisines’.
With a rich history from the old ‘Legends Cafe’ and ‘Gringos Cantina’  days, you can indulge in a little nostalgia on our LEGENDS AND GRINGOS  Face Book page or follow the musings of the ‘Philosophers Stove’ where we take a philosophical look at life through the medium of food and cooking.
